A day in the life: Nigel Addison-Evans
We spend a day with our Client Relationship Manager, Nigel Addison-Evans. Nigel’s expertise lies within carbon reduction and net zero strategies as well as providing support on flexible procurement, billing queries, siteworks and metering. Over to Nigel…
My Background
I worked in the financial services before working in the energy sector, providing advice on financial investments and large group pension schemes.
Based in Cheltenham, I’m a dad to three girls, two of whom are at University and the youngest at senior school… you’d think that it would get easier!
I have worked within the energy sector for over eighteen years, for both suppliers and consultants, advising public and private sector clients on carbon reduction and net zero strategies, tender management for fixed and flexible procurement, bill validation and bureau services. My expertise also extends to regulatory guidance, monitoring and controls to IoT standards, Software as a Service (SaaS), and a diverse range of renewable energy solutions.
Fun facts about me
- My interests include water sports, ultra-running, motorsports and golf
- I was in the Guinness book of records for running the fastest marathon in firefighting kit
- I’m a huge rugby fan, following Harlequins, Gloucester and England - having Welsh rugby fans in the family has led to many a conversation about how well England’s playing! (depending on who’s winning)
- I’ve been an on-call firefighter for many years, providing safety advice to the local community as well as responding to emergency calls within Gloucestershire and cross-border
My role
I’m responsible for working with associations, organisations and businesses to help them understand how through taking a holistic approach to energy management, we can support them in reducing their carbon footprint and work towards Net Zero.
As the first point of contact for associations and organisations, I’m responsible for providing support, updates and guidance to help individuals and member organisations understand how they can go about managing their energy more effectively through the sometimes complex journey that the energy sector presents.
I’m passionate about my role, as everything I do to support clients with their energy management also helps to reduce their carbon footprint, which in turn reduces our impact on the environment and helps the UK work towards its net zero ambitions.
I believe that there’s only one constant in the energy industry, and that’s ‘change’ - as soon as you think you understand a piece of legislation in the energy industry, it changes!
