Control Energy Costs awarded Investors in People accreditation

Here at Control Energy Costs, our employees are very important; without them we would not be able to operate.

Ensuring we can be the very best employer is at the top of our agenda as a business.

We were delighted to be awarded the we invest in people accreditation in March 2020. It was a lengthy and thorough assessment process which included employee interviews and questionnaires, as well as our policies, procedures and ways of working being put under the spotlight.

About Investors in People

Investors in People is part of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. The organisation focusses on what it takes to lead, support and manage people well for sustainable results. Investors in People sets out standards for people management, offering accreditation to organisations that meet and adhere to the Investors in People Standard.

Why we think this is important

The accreditation reflects our business commitment to ensuring our people can thrive through good engagement, attention to wellbeing, effective performance management and investment in leadership and management development.

As a business we wanted to know both what we were doing well, and what we could be doing better, so that we could celebrate success and look at where improvements could be made.

How we will use the feedback

The honest and open feedback given by our employees has been incredibly insightful. We are using the recommendations from Investors in People to create an action plan. This will ensure that we make continual progress and that everyone is involved.

How things have changed since receiving our award

Obviously, there has been a significant change in the way we have been working since receiving the award.

We have had a lengthy period of working from home, and this has meant that many of our employees have been juggling homeschooling and other responsibilities and we have been incredibly proud of how they have adjusted to these changes. Our teams have been working remotely, managing their workloads and communicating via a range of remote technologies.

Some of the feedback we received from our employees

The comments from our employees highlight the hard work undertaken by everyone to ensure that we have a workplace that is positive and that our employees are happy and that they come to work in a positive environment that supports them.

“World class employer (cheesy but true). Having worked here for just under month I can genuinely say this company is the most rewarding and fun company I have worked for over the last 12 years in the energy industry. They value and reward every single team member - they treat everyone as equals unlike previous companies where only the high contract earners would benefit. I genuinely don’t have a single bad word to say, everyone has been so welcoming and easy to work with. I have already been on a team ‘away day’ despite being here for such a short period of time. The office has just had a new refurb and expansion which looks great! Kudos to the Directors/Management - a wicked environment thanks to them.”
