Strategic merger with Energy Connection Services
On 3rd April 2023, Control Energy Costs merged with utilities connection specialists Energy Connection Services (ECS). Going forward, the business will trade under the Control Energy Costs brand.
The two businesses have been working closely together for over 10 years on many mutual clients and were already closely aligned. This strategic decision will allow us to provide clients with a more streamlined service and a wider offering.
Worcester-based Energy Connection Services shields clients from the bureaucracy and confusion that surrounds the, at times, complex connection process. ECS’s end-to-end project management allows clients to focus on core business while the ECS team arranges their connections.
Gareth Furlong, founder and director of ECS, comments:
“Both I and the whole ECS team are delighted by the merger. We’ve enjoyed a long and productive relationship with CEC over many years, characterised by shared values, vision and passion for the work we do. Because of these happy commonalities, becoming part of the CEC team is a natural fit, and we look forward to the months and years to come working alongside each other as one.”

Phil Ager, managing director, adds:
“This merger comes at a great time for Control Energy Costs. Over the last 12 months, we have brought a number of new services to support clients on their journey to net zero, as well as help them navigate the recent high energy prices to find energy purchasing solutions that provide the best possible outcome. This adds so much to our shared client base in terms of services and expertise and we are very excited about the future.“

Client management and onboarding
Control Energy Costs has also recently completed a review to streamline client management and onboarding of new accounts, aiming to provide clients with a smoother and more efficient service.
With effect from 1st April, they have brought together the account management and market analyst teams to create a new Client Relationship Management team, with the relevant specialists from each area working together to provides services for clients. The ECS project management team will work as a specialist unit within the Client Relationship team.
Every client will now have a single point of contact leading the team of people behind managing a client account, giving more structure and faster response times. Each lead contact will brief requests into the Client Support Services Team (formerly the Administration team) and will manage queries through to successful conclusion.
Adriano Zucchelli, who has been with the business for over 15 years, has been promoted to Client Relationship Director, to head up the new team, building on his extensive expertise and experience in client management.
