Now, Control Energy Costs is proud to introduce its latest service: Clear Energy Choice, designed to give clients greater autonomy over their energy consumption and generation, while also providing financial and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) benefits.

What is Clear Energy Choice?

Clear Energy Choice empowers businesses to take control of their surplus power generation and energy consumption. This service opens a new path to the energy market, enabling clients to decide where their excess energy goes - whether it’s sold back to their own operations or shared with a wider consortium.

Clear Energy Choice also creates a marketplace where communities can access competitively priced renewable energy. It is a win-win scenario for both energy generators and clients who purchase the energy. The system is built on flexibility, transparency, and sustainability, allowing clients to understand their energy fuel mix better and ensuring that their green power is sourced locally from known suppliers.

By bypassing the traditional Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, Clear Energy Choice offers enhanced benefits to businesses. Clients can utilise multiple forms of on-site renewable energy generation, including solar, wind, combined heat and power (CHP), anaerobic digestion (AD), and biomass.

How Clear Energy Choice works

Clear Energy Choice follows a simple but effective model:

1. We identify pockets of generation within predominantly multi-site clients who have a need for export.
2. We ringfence the generation and this is acquired via one of our energy partners.
3. We enter the generated power into a basket to offset the client's energy import requirements from the grid. The basket can be used to offset grid imports for the client’s own sites or those of other community/consortium members.

This approach creates opportunities for revenue generation through:

• The sale of power into the basket on a per-kilowatt-hour basis
• Uplift against the generation sold to the wider organisation
• Uplift against the purchase of additional energy needed to fulfil individual sites’ requirements

Both the individual site and the wider organisation benefit from the approach, as funds effectively flow between the two.
